Using a DC to AC Power Inverter with Off-Grid Lighting

Hi, I am looking for a dc to ac power inverter to use with my Christmas lights. I want to connect 25 rows of 80 watt per row lights to my tour bus. Can you tell me what size dc to ac power inverter I would require and how many batteries I would need to run the lights at night from 630pm to 1030am? Thanks for your help, happy holidays!!!

The 3000 watt 12 volt or 24 volt dc to 120 volt ac power inverter would work well in this type of setup. A standard modified sine wave power inverter would be fine, there will be no need for pure sine wave power inverter. The continuous wattage will be around 2000 watt or 18.5 amps of alternating current. The surge wattage might go as high as 2500 watts on start up so the 3000 watt 25 amp power inverter should be perfect. If you are using free standing batteries you will need approximately 200 amp/hours of battery life for every hour of use. If you have a charging system running continuous the charge rate will change the amount of required battery power. Also make sure you connect the battery bank in parallel with the shortest length apart, either your direct connect bus bars or one foot or less 0 gauge cabling. This off grind power system should be wired in a well ventilated spaced, at a temperature higher then 40F degrees. Secure the dc to ac power inverter to a fixed panel of your vehicle so it does not shift, most 3000 watt dc to ac power inverters will include a mounting bracket for easy installation.

If you plan on setting up this off gird mobile power station for seasonal use it is recommend uninstall the system and store it in a more stable location until next use. Make sure the dc to ac power inverter that you purchase is made for mobile off grid power applications. If you do not buy a dc to ac power inverter for mobile a system but for a home back up power setup the inverter will not have a long product life. Also making sure the dc to ac power inverter is kept dry and moisture free will protect the components from damage. If you choose to connect the battery bank to the vehicle battery system make sure the battery voltage of the power inverter the of the additional batteries match the battery voltage of the vehicle. If the system is not set properly if cause major damage to the dc to ac power inverter the additional batteries and the vehicles battery and alternator.
