Setting up a Solar Power Off Grid System

I am setting up a solar power system, and I need to know what type of DC to AC Power Inverter I need for my system. Also do require a 12 Volt DC to 120 Volt AC Power Inverter or 24 Volt DC input? Also can I use multiple batteries in my system?

You can use any DC input power inverter in your solar power system, as long as you make sure that you solar charge controller is able to used in the same input voltage and the battery bank is configured as well. For example if you have a 12 volt/24 volt solar charge controller you will need to use a 12 or 24 volt DC to AC power inverter. The inverter itself can be connected to as many batteries as you require to run the load applied for the period required. As for the specific model or size of the power inverter, that will depend on the devices you would like to operate within your system. It is also important to understand that the amount of solar panels being used in the system will only provide a certain amount of charge current. So connecting a certain amount of batteries might not able to be kept charged by your panels. Also you need to factor the solar sun exposure to evaluate the charging rate of the solar panels. If your DC to AC Power Inverter is too large or the load applied to the power inverter is too large to keep up with the battery life then the system will never function properly. Additional solar panels can always be added to the system as well to increase the charging rate and improve your solar system.

If your planning to use the solar system as home UPS in emergency situation a 3000 watt 12 volt DC to 120 volt AC Power Inverter should meet your needs nicely. If you are setting up a completely off grid home solar system you would need a 6000 watt 50 amp dc to ac power inverter, or multiple smaller power inverter on separate battery power banks. So first establish your needs and the purchase the right amount of solar panels and right size dc to ac power inverter to properly work within your required size system. Consult a solar power specialist for full information of charging rates and capabilities of the solar panels.
